Day 14

"Living Water"

Exodus 17:1-7

In First Corinthians 10:4, writing about
Moses’s rock that gave forth water,
the Apostle Paul said that “that rock was Christ.”
In John chapter 4, Jesus met
a woman of Samaria at Jacob’s Well.
He was thirsty and asked her to
draw him a drink from the well.
This man was God in the flesh!
He gushed enough water from a rock
in the desert to quench the thirst of over
3 million Israelites and their livestock!
Yet, He asked a woman of low
reputation to get Him a drink.
He also told her that He could give her
living water that would satisfy her soul forever!

Moses struck the rock - Jesus was crucified.
The rock gave water for all who would
drink and live - Jesus gives forgiveness
and eternal salvation to all who trust Him.
Living water, springing up from
within, giving life and hope to all who believe.
Have you believed?

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank You for giving me
that spiritual water that satisfies
my spiritual thirst
forever!
Help me to understand that daily
spiritual water from You is needed as well.
Help me to long for it “as the
deer pants for the water.”

P.S. “Spring Up, O Well”
(a chorus we have done on Sunday nights):

I’ve got a river of life flowing out of me
Makes the lame to walk and the blind to see
Opens prison doors, sets the captives free
I’ve got a river of life flowing out of me.

Spring up, O well (goosh, goosh, goosh, goosh)
- Within my soul,
Spring up, O well (splish splash)
- And make me whole,
Spring up, O well (swooooosh!)
- and give to me - that life - abundantly!
